Catch 22

I’m on the corner of
I Shouldn’t Be Here,
and
Seriously, Just Turn Around.

I walk into Well, You Came This Far,
Saw He Loved Me Once from High School,
bought a pack of
You Should Have Quit Yesterday 100’s,
a bottle of 80 Proof Gives You Powers,
and paid with my
Overdraft Protection My Ass.

At a crosswalk
Brakes Are The First Thing To Go
was playing loudly
Something, Something Where Have You Been All My Life?
and switched it to
I Never Want To See You Again, Something, Something.

Over the train tracks
I thought about
Insert Forget-Me-Not Memory Here,
and smoking a Yesterday
passed her house for kicks.
I couldn’t help but think
If It Wasn’t For This,
It Would’ve Been That. Or that.

There’s No Place Like Home
was really You’re 25, And Live In A Basement.
I heard I’m Always Happy To See You barking.
It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere.
Even if it’s 4:37 here.

Water Under The Bridge was found
in a poem I wrote.

Until I was at the corner of
I Shouldn’t Be Here,
And
Seriously, Last Chance,
